Yugioh Scrolls takes place in an alternative universe to the Yugioh manga or anime that we know. This is a timeline of important events in the Yugioh Scrolls project story, not a timeline of the events of the original Yugioh anime or manga. Here, events happened differently in one single big continuity that takes all story chapters into consideration.

  • Horakhty creates the Light.
  • The Human world and the Spirit world come into existence together.
  • Eventually, human civilization advances beyond prehistorian times.
  • Zorc Necrophades is created out of the darkness of people’s hearts.
• ~1000 B.C.
  • Egypt is under threat. The events leading to the massacre of Kul Elna and the creation of the Millennium Items take place.
  • The events involving Atem’s war against Bakura and Zorc Necrophades takes place. Atem is sealed in the Millennium Puzzle.
• ~1960s
  • Sugoroku Muto goes on an expedition to the Valley of the Kings and finds the Millennium Puzzle.
• ~1970s
  • Births: Keith (12/8/70), Rishid (18/11/71), Pegasus (8/10/72), Mai (20/11/72), Ishizu (5/4/77), Noah (?/?/78).
• ~1980s
  • Births: Jonouchi (25/1/80), Otogi (28/2/80), Honda (19/4/80), Yugi (4/6/80), Bakura (2/9/80), Anzu (18/10/80), Seto Kaiba (25/10/80), Marik (23/12/80), Shizuka (?/?/81), Mokuba (7/7/83).
• 1982
  • Pegasus in his youth meets Cyndia for the first time.
• 1989
  • Cyndia passes away due to an illness shortly after her wedding with Pegasus. He starts searching the world for something to revive her.
• 1990
  • Pegasus goes to Egypt and receives the Millennium Eye from Shadi. He starts working on Duel Monsters.
  • A young Bakura comes into contact with the Millennium Ring by following his father to the place where Shadi kept it. Bakura unleashes the power of the Millennium Ring and kills Shadi, as the kids from Prana witness the event. Shadi’s spirit would endure as a ghost.
  • Noah Kaiba dies, Gozaburo uploads his mind into a supercomputer just before his death.
  • Seto and Mokuba are sent to the orphanage and later adopted by Gozaburo.
• 1991
  • Industrial Illusions is founded, headquartered in San Francisco (USA), and Duel Monsters is released worldwide.
  • One of the very early duels that we could see is from Ishizu and Marik as kids.
  • Marik’s father carves the symbols onto Marik’s back.
• 1992
  • On one fateful day Marik leaves the gravekeeper’s place and sees the outside world for the first time. Shadi’s ghost finds Ishizu and Marik and tells them about the incoming resurrection of the Pharaoh. The evil personality within Marik takes over and kills his father. Marik takes the Millennium Rod and leaves with Rishid. Ishizu inherits the Millennium Tauk.
• 1995
  • Pegasus goes to Egypt once again and finds the Egyptian God’s stone tablet thanks to Shadi. His team dies in mysterious circumstances briefly after returning from that trip. He ends up designing the God Cards himself but gives them to Ishizu for safekeeping. At some point Marik and his Ghouls steal two of the three cards.
  • Industrial Illusions grow exponentially. By the end of the year they will have at least two personal satellites in orbit.
• 1996
  • Yugi solves the Millennium Puzzle. Atem resurfaces.
  • From this point onward Duel Monsters become insanely popular and technology advances rapidly thanks to the Solid Vision technology, way faster than in our world. The importance of Duel Monsters skyrockets way beyond a simple game, and a huge world paradigm shift occurs.
• March 1997 - October 1998
  • The events of The Millennium Chapter take place.
    • The unknown Yugi defeats the champion Kaiba in an historic duel that makes waves in the Duel Monsters scene.
    • The National Japanese tournament happens, Haga is declared champion.
    • Pegasus defeats Yugi, taking his grandfather’s soul as hostage with his Millennium Eye.
    • The Duelist Kingdom tournament happens (duration 2 days). Yugi wins the tournament, defeats Pegasus and becomes Duelist King, saving his grandfather’s soul. Bakura later uses this opportunity to challenge and defeat the weakened Pegasus, taking his Millennium Eye and putting him into a coma.
    • Simultaneously to that tournament, Pegasus attempted and failed to take over Kaiba Corporation. Kaiba ended up firing The Big Five for this.
    • Start of a new school year (2nd year of school for Yugi and friends). Otogi joins the classroom.
    • Kaiba, Yugi and friends end up imprisoned in a virtual world, in a trap set up by the Big Five and Noah Kaiba (duration 1 day).
    • “The Art of Egypt” exhibition takes place in the Domino City Museum. Shadi’s spirit tests Yugi in a duel. Ishizu meets Kaiba, gives him an Egyptian God card, and a few days later she also meets Yugi. She gives both of them knowledge about the past using the old stone tablets and her Millennium Item.
    • Bakura, Ishizu and Shadi clash at the Domino City Museum.
    • The Battle City tournament happens (duration 3 days). Marik defeats Bakura and takes his Millennium Items (Ring and Eye). Ishizu gives Yugi her Millennium Tauk. Yugi later defeats Marik and takes his Millennium Items (Rod, Ring and Eye). He also now has the Egyptian God cards and the knowledge of the Pharaoh passed down through generation of Gravekeepers. Yugi now has all the Millennium Items minus the Scales and the Key.

  • The events of The King’s Chapter take place.
